The Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, FNCS, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across Ogun State and Nigeria as they mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
In his New Year message, the lawmaker, who also chairs the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, urged Muslims to use the occasion of Muharram—the first month of the Islamic calendar—for deep reflection, sincere prayers, and renewed commitment to the values of faith, compassion, and service to humanity.
“This New Year calls for deep reflection, sincere prayer, and a renewed commitment to the values of faith, compassion, and service to humanity,” Senator Salis stated.
He prayed that the Islamic New Year would usher in “peace, divine guidance, and abundant blessings” for all, while encouraging Muslims to uphold the moral integrity, resilience, and spiritual devotion that Muharram represents.
The Senator also expressed optimism that the new Islamic year would bring unity, progress, and prosperity to Ogun Central Senatorial District and Nigeria at large.
He concluded by wishing all Muslim faithful a peaceful and blessed Islamic New Year.
