Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, FNCS, representing Ogun Central Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, has extended warm Democracy Day greetings to Nigerians while paying tribute to the nation’s democratic heroes, particularly the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO).
In a statement commemorating the significance of June 12, Senator Salisu described democracy as a “collective responsibility” and saluted the resilience of Nigerians who remain steadfast in their belief in a nation founded on justice, equity, and progress.
The Senator reflected on the sacrifices of past and present compatriots, emphasising the pivotal role of MKO Abiola, the symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle. He reiterated his call for higher national recognition for the late statesman, vowing to continue advocating for his enduring legacy.
“As your Senator, I remain committed to championing policies that uphold the people’s will and foster inclusive development in Ogun Central Senatorial District, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole,” Senator Salisu declared.
He urged Nigerians, particularly his constituents, to sustain their faith in democracy and support efforts to strengthen institutions for national progress.
